Silver Reed SK155 is a punch card 3rd class knitting machine designed for knitting thick and very thick yarns. The optimal yarn thickness is up to 200 m/100 g. It is ideal for creating warm sweaters, coats, socks, hats, and other similar items.

All operations—such as yarn feeding, needle selection for pattern knitting, and yarn switching when knitting two-color jacquard—are fully automated and require no effort from the user. By simply sliding the carriage back and forth, the machine automatically knits various patterns from the punch card.

The Silver Reed SK155 can be attached to any sturdy table edge of suitable height using special mounting brackets. A specially designed foldable table for knitting machines, Silver, is highly convenient. When closed with its metal lid, the machine’s body resembles a compact suitcase that stores all knitting tools and the carriage. The machine has two yarn feeders and allows two yarns to be threaded into the carriage simultaneously.

Knitting Density Adjustment
The Silver Reed SK155 offers the ability to adjust knitting density. Using a special dial located on the carriage, you can select the desired stitch density—from loose knitting that lets the wind through, to very tight, windproof fabric. Thanks to this regulator, you can use yarns of various thicknesses and achieve the exact density you need.

Knitting Principle
Knitting with the Silver Reed SK155 is done manually by sliding the carriage from left to right (knitting one row) and back again (knitting the next row), repeatedly. Adding and removing stitches is done manually using a transfer tool, based on the row count.

As with other Silver Reed knitting machines, the SK155 needles have four positions:
• Rear non-working (A)
• Working (B)
• Selected working (C)
• Front non-working (D)

On the carriage, regardless of movement direction, you can disable punch card knitting in needle position B and enable knitting in position D. The brushes switch between “viving/gathering” mode and the standard mode. The carriage operates in 5 modes.

Patterns and Punch Cards
The Silver Reed SK155 knitting machine reads designs (patterns) from punch cards. The pattern repeat is 12 needles wide and can be reproduced once, twice, or multiple times depending on your preference—or it can repeat every 12 needles without limitation. Special limiters allow you to define where the pattern will be knitted and where it will not. This way, you can set start and end zones for pattern knitting (the machine includes 4 limiters, allowing you to define up to two zones).

With special plastic clips, you can connect the punch card into a loop, enabling it to be read continuously in a circular motion. The punch card reader also allows you to disable the punch card and to double the pattern vertically—meaning each row from the punch card will be knitted twice.

Performance
The performance of the Silver Reed SK155 knitting machine depends on the complexity of the design and may vary. The fastest results are achieved with simple knitting—if the stitch density is correctly selected, it takes only 1–3 seconds to knit one row. A hat can be knitted in 5 minutes. A men’s sweater can be completed in a couple of hours (if the pattern is already prepared).
